NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER
HAMPSHIRE, SURREY & BERKSHIRE
Relaxed, authentic photography for the wild love stories of life
WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR SESSION
You’ve booked your newborn photoshoot. Woo hoo! So now what?
The session will take place at your home. Usually I will use the main bedroom for the majority of the photos as typically that is where the best light is.
When I arrive I will have a chat with any siblings and take a quick look around your home to identify the best spots for photos. Most of the time I will photograph baby with siblings first and whole family shots (as I find siblings can get bored of the idea pretty quick!) Then if baby is settled we will go on to do baby alone followed by baby with parents.
We can stop as often as needed for baby to be fed or changed. This is all about your baby and there will be no rushing involved! Any posing is natural and baby led; there will be no awkward posing or elaborate props!
MY STYLE

Relaxed approach; friendly, positive and warm

A cool, calm juggler of all things; as a Mum of three, I have the experience!

Catch all the cherished moments of connection with your new baby

Capture those tiny details, and relaxed, authentic family moments together

WHAT TO WEAR
What you wear to your shoot makes a massive impact on your final gallery. If you only do one thing to prepare for your shoot, plan your outfits!

Organise your outfits in advance and try them on. I am available on whats app if you need to send photos for advice!

Wear coordinated outfits, rather than matching.

Select colours from the colour palette suggested. Neutral, earthy tones make a good base and then select one or two bolder colours to compliment.

Avoid lettering, logos and slogans as well as very bright and bold colours and patterns.

Try to select a variety of textures. Layers also work well for texture.

Neutral, plain bedsheets on the bed is perfect and a neutral, plain vest for baby (or just a nappy and wrapped in a blanket) is great.

HOW TO PREPARE
CHILL
Please don’t worry about the state of your home. I know what it is like to have a new baby! Chores are not the priority!
MAKE IT FUN
Tell any siblings that we are going to have some fun family time.
FRIENDS
Tell siblings a friend is coming to take some photos.
BEDDING
Please put neutral, plain bedding on the bed in the main bedroom
FOR BABY
Either have baby in a nappy and wrapped in a blanket, or in a plain, neutral short sleeved vest
DON’T STRESS
Try not to remind siblings how to smile and give too many instructions, which may cause anxiety. Don’t overthink their behaviour. Just relax and connect.
 PREPARE THE CLOTHES
Try on the clothes you will be wearing before the day of the shoot.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
01. What is your Shooting Style ?
Relaxed, laid back and natural. My shoots are a perfect time for you and your new baby to connect. The session will involve baby led, natural posing. I do not encourage baby into unnatural or elaborate posing or use props.
02. Do I need a lot of space at home/ what if my home is a little untidy?
Please don’t worry about making your home immaculate for the shoot. I know what those first few days and weeks are like with a new baby – I’ve been there three times! I usually photograph in the main bedroom of the house as typically that’s where the light is best. If you have a bed and a window that will be enough space for your photo session.
03. What time of day will the photoshoot take place?
I usually schedule newborn sessions for around 10 or 10.30am. This gives you enough time to get up and get ready and is usually the ideal time for siblings too.
03. What if one of us is unwell on the day of the shoot?
No problem! Just let me know and we can reschedule.
03. How long will the shoot take and what if baby needs feeding/ nappy changes?
When I photograph a newborn session, I do not schedule any other sessions on that day so that there is no rush at all. We can stop to feed/ change baby as many times as needed.
03. We feel awkward in front of the camera. Any advice?
Rest assured, my style is very natural and it will be very laid back. This is time to connect with your baby and family and let me worry about creating the memories.
